Ask for feedback on a draft

Share a saved version with your teacher for written feedback. Not a submission.

Some courses use Feedback rounds. In such a course you can ask your teacher for written feedback before you submit. Your teacher chooses this for each course. If you do not see Ask for feedback, your course does not use it.

What is shared

  • One saved version of your draft, frozen as it is saved. If you keep writing, your teacher still sees that version.
  • An optional note to your teacher.
  • Not your coach chat.

A shared draft is not a submission. Your work stays a draft. You keep writing, and you still submit as usual. Your teacher gives no mark on a shared draft.

How to ask

  1. In the editor, select Ask for feedback (on a phone, in the Feedback tab).
  2. Add a note if you want to. Select Share this version.
  3. A chip says Shared for feedback · waiting; a narrow editor shortens it. On a phone, the Feedback tab shows a dot, and Withdraw is there.

You can have one open share at a time for each assignment. To change your mind, select Withdraw. Your teacher can then no longer open that version or read your note.

Where feedback appears

When your teacher sends feedback, it appears in the Feedback panel, next to the version it is about. On a wide screen the tab is above the coach, and the panel takes the coach’s place beside your draft; select Coach to go back. On a narrow screen it is one of the tabs with Coach and Editor. If your teacher sends it again after a change, it shows Updated. Feedback is never put into your draft. You decide what to change, in your own words.

When a share closes

A share also closes when you submit, when you start a new draft (Clean Slate), when your teacher turns off feedback rounds, or when you are removed from the course. After you submit, your submitted work lists the rounds of that draft and the feedback you received.
